Welcome to Upper Hutt Taxis. By booking or using our services, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.
1. Our Services
Upper Hutt Taxis provides taxi and passenger transport services throughout Upper Hutt, Lower Hutt, Wellington, and surrounding areas. All bookings are subject to vehicle availability.
2. Bookings
Bookings may be made by phone, online, email, social media, or any other approved booking method. A booking is confirmed only once it has been accepted by Upper Hutt Taxis.
3. Fixed Fare Bookings
Advertised fixed fares apply only to eligible journeys between the advertised pick-up and drop-off locations and must be agreed before the journey begins.
Fixed fares are based on a direct trip and include travel via the most practical route.
4. Fixed Fare Conditions
Advertised fixed fares do not include:
* Additional pick-up or drop-off locations
* Stops requested during the journey
* Waiting time
* Changes to the destination
* Significant route changes requested by the passenger
* Airport access fees
* Parking charges
* Road tolls
* Cleaning charges where applicable
* Any additional services requested during the trip
Additional charges may apply where any of the above occur.
5. Metered Fares
Where a fixed fare has not been agreed before the journey begins, or where the passenger requests a metered fare, the fare will be calculated using the taxi meter in accordance with New Zealand law.
6. Changes During the Journey
If the destination or journey changes after travel has commenced, the agreed fixed fare may no longer apply. The driver may either agree to a revised fixed fare or continue the journey using the taxi meter.
7. Waiting Time
Reasonable waiting time may be included where stated. Additional waiting requested by the passenger may be charged at the applicable waiting time rate.
8. Payments
Payment is due at the completion of the journey unless prior account arrangements have been made.
We accept approved payment methods including cash, EFTPOS, debit cards and credit cards.
Applicable card processing fees will be disclosed before payment where required.
9. Cancellations
Bookings may be cancelled free of charge before a driver has been dispatched.
Late cancellations or passenger no-shows may incur a reasonable cancellation fee.
10. Passenger Responsibilities
Passengers must:
* Treat drivers respectfully.
* Wear seatbelts where required by law.
* Not damage or soil the vehicle.
* Follow reasonable safety instructions from the driver.
Drivers may refuse or terminate a journey where a passenger’s behaviour threatens safety or is unlawful.
11. Child Restraints
Customers requiring a child restraint should advise us at the time of booking. Compliance with New Zealand child restraint laws remains the responsibility of the passenger.
12. Lost Property
We will make reasonable efforts to assist customers in recovering lost property. However, Upper Hutt Taxis accepts no responsibility for items left in vehicles.
13. Delays
Estimated arrival and travel times are provided as a guide only.
Upper Hutt Taxis is not liable for delays caused by traffic, accidents, weather, road works, emergencies, public events, or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
14. Refunds and Fare Disputes
If you believe you have been incorrectly charged, please contact us within 14 days and provide:
* Your receipt or proof of payment
* Booking details
* The date and time of travel
* A description of the issue
We will investigate the matter promptly.
15. Consumer Rights
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits or excludes any rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the Fair Trading Act 1986, or any other applicable New Zealand legislation.
16. Privacy
We collect personal information only for the purposes of providing our services, processing payments, responding to enquiries, complying with legal obligations, and improving our services.
Your personal information is handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020.
17. Website Information
We make every reasonable effort to ensure that information published on our website is accurate.
If an obvious pricing or typographical error occurs, we reserve the right to correct the error before accepting or confirming a booking.
18. Promotions
Promotional offers and fixed fares are subject to availability and may be amended or withdrawn without notice unless already confirmed as part of an accepted booking.
19. Complaints
Customer complaints can be submitted by phone, email or through our website.
We aim to acknowledge complaints promptly and investigate them fairly.

Advertised fixed fares apply only to eligible journeys that meet the advertised booking conditions. Fixed fares must be agreed before the journey begins. Additional charges may apply for changes to the journey, additional stops, waiting time, airport access fees, tolls, parking charges, cleaning fees, or where a metered fare has been agreed.
